Saint Rémy de Provence
Nestled in the heart of the Alpilles mountains, Saint Rémy de Provence is a must-visit town in the Bouches du Rhône region, just a few kilometers from Avignon.
Take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets of Saint Rémy de Provence’s old town center, stopping off at the shady squares (Jules Pellissier, Camille-Dourguin, Favier, Mairie) or café terraces, and enjoy thetypical village atmosphere with its restaurants, stalls and Provencal market.
Like Les Baux de Provence, Saint Rémy de Provence is a village of artists, the most famous being Vincent Van Gogh, who painted some 100 canvases here and to whom a trail is dedicated. Numerous exhibitions are on offer throughout the year.
The Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles welcomes you to a breathtaking setting of ancient oaks, olive trees and olive groves. You’ll also find remarkable villages like Les Baux de Provence, Maussane, Mouriès, Fontvieille and Eygalières. You can also attend the Provencal market every Saturday and Wednesday morning. Last but not least, Saint Rémy de Provence has many restaurants and small shops to please you. Saint Rémy de Provence is one of the most important towns in the Alpilles department and attracts many visitors thanks to its authenticity.
